Privacy

Images you process on a computer stay on your device unless you choose to attach them to feedback. Phones use our server, and the image is deleted right after processing. There are no accounts.

Where your images go

On a computer, CutSubject removes the background in your browser. The first time, it downloads what it needs and your browser keeps a copy. Your image is not uploaded for background removal.

On a phone, the image is uploaded to our server, processed, and deleted right after. We do not use your images to train models.

Images from a link

When you paste a link to an image, your browser first tries to download it directly. If the source does not allow your browser to read it, our server downloads the public image for you. The source website receives the download request from your device or our server. The image is then processed as described above for your device.

What we collect

We do not collect account details, because there are no accounts.

Feedback you send us

If you choose to send feedback, we collect your message, any images you attach, and your email address if you provide one. Feedback screenshots can include the images visible on the page. Screenshots and annotations stay on your device until you press Send feedback.

We also include the page address without its query parameters, your browser and operating system, and the size of your browser window so we can understand the issue. We store submitted feedback and its attachments in Notion for our team to review and follow up. This is separate from the images you process with the background remover.

Cookies and local storage

Your browser stores the files the tool needs so they do not download again, and saves a few preferences. Google Analytics may set cookies to count visits.

Services we use

These companies process data on our behalf:

Open-source software

On a computer, HEIC photos are converted in your browser with libheif-js, open-source software licensed under LGPL-3.0. It runs on your device and never sees anything we store.

The magic brush on computers uses SAM 2.1 (Apache-2.0) and Repair uses MI-GAN (MIT). Both run in your browser.
